Dermatology is one of the specialties that presents the highest number of cases in the daily life of small animal clinics. Approximately 40% of the visits made to our hospital are for a dermatological problem.

 

At Hospital Veterinari Montjuïc, we provide comprehensive dermatological care for pets with a variety of skin problems, including:

• Allergic dermatitis: Atopic dermatitis

• Food intolerance/hypersensitivity

• Allergic dermatitis to flea bites

• Parasitic diseases: demodécia and sarcoptic mange, ticks,...

• Immune-mediated skin diseases: lupus erythematosus, pemphigus,...

We perform the following tests to establish a good dermatological diagnosis:

• Skin scraping: it is indicated for any dermatological problem, especially when the presence of skin parasites is suspected, such as Demodex, Sarcoptes, Cheyletiella,...

• Trichogram: consists of the direct microscopic examination of plucked hairs. It can provide important diagnostic information.

• Cytological examination.

• Bacterial and mycological cultures.

• Allergy tests.

• Skin biopsy.

• Hematological and biochemical panels.

• Endocrine and immune function tests
